Fringe Program

FROM HERE TO THERE AND BACK: Stroud Valley Artspace presents projects by artists Jamila Lamrani, Alice Forward and Louisa Fairclough

Guided walk to Cyber Park: 10.30am, Saturday 21st November. Meet at Riad El Fenn

Taking the idea of a cultural exchange both literally and poetically SVA presents projects by artists Jamila  Lamrani (Morocco), Alice Forward (UK) and Louisa Fairclough (UK) in the Cyber Park, Marrakech as part of AiM International Biennale.

Morrocan artist, Jamila Lamrani, presents her work, Woman, in the Cyber Park during the Biennale. Made of a loose mesh of black muslin strips that form a pyramid construction, the sculpture was originally conceived for the courtyard at SVA whilst Jamila was artist-in-residence in the UK studios.

Alice Forward has created gold leaf interventions in the Cyber Park, Riad El Fenn and Riad Magi in Marrakech. She employs gold leaf as a loaded medium, working with its associations of power and powerlessness, wealth and exploitation, health and suffering. The work will be re-presented in Stroud.

Louisa Fairclough proposes an exchange of a few pixels of ground between two public spaces in Morroco and UK. Taking the form of screensavers, the Colour Fields use only the materials available in the parks: the ground, a screen located in the Museum in the Park, Stroud, Gloucestershire (UK) and the internet screens sited throughout the Cyber Park in Marrakech.

SVA, based in Stroud in the South West of England, is an artist-led project providing studio space for visual artists and promoting an innovative arts and educational programme.

It will also feature a show from established artist, actress, writer and 'Chelsea Girl', Mary Woronov.

IL MINISTERO DEL GUSTO

Open: 9.30am-1pm and 3pm-7pm, 19th-23rd November

One of most innovative and famous modern art galleries in Marrakesh. The multiethnic influence in the structure is apparent with artistic influences as diverse as the Masai tribe of East Africa and as far away as Mexico. These have been incorporated into the architecture itself. Diverse influences lend the space an almost other-worldly atmosphere.

POINT AND LINE GALLERY

3-6pm, 19th-21st November

The Point and Line Gallery presents the artist Philippe R. Berthommier until the 24th November. In his exhibition Greniers: Structures of Memory, the artist has been inspired by the collective Greniers of the High Atlas.
